Possible causes:

(1) Improper resin selection: Insufficient flexibility or low molecular weight of the resin itself results in high brittleness after film formation.

(2) Improper reactivity or dosage of the curing agent: When the reactivity of the curing agent is mismatched with that of the resin, or when the dosage does not achieve the optimal stoichiometric ratio, the crosslink density may become excessively high (resulting in brittleness) or insufficiently high (leading to weak cohesion), thereby reducing the coating’s impact resistance.

(3) Poor system compatibility: Inadequate compatibility between the resin and the curing agent leads to microphase separation within the coating, creating stress concentration points.

(4) Curing temperature conditions not met

Proposed solution:

(1) Adjust the process: reduce the curing temperature by 10–15°C or shorten the baking time by 5–10 minutes;

(2) Formulation adjustment: Add Huanyu HY216/217 curing accelerator.

Lack of three-dimensional texture in the wrinkles

Possible causes:

(1) System viscosity issues (affecting three-dimensionality);

(2) Problems arise during the reaction process;

(3) Influence of flow aids or other additives;

Proposed solution:

(1) Addressing insufficient three-dimensionality (viscosity adjustment)

Adjusting system viscosity: By replacing the resin or adjusting the filler dosage, the melt viscosity of the system can be appropriately increased to reduce flow during the early stages of curing, thereby allowing wrinkles to fully develop.

(2) Regarding the overall reaction process (adjustment of the curing rate)

Add the HuanYu HY217 curing accelerator additive.

By fine-tuning the curing reaction rate, the formation of wrinkles is better aligned with the curing process. This not only facilitates full texture development and ensures timely setting but also enhances three-dimensionality; the formulation is suitable for both hot and cold curing ovens.

Silver powder is unevenly dispersed.

Possible causes:

(1) The silver powder has not been dispersed.

(2) Issue with the base powder system: insufficient wetting of the silver powder by the resin.

(3) Silver powder has intrinsic characteristics: high surface energy and a strong tendency to agglomerate.

Proposed solution:

Add HY74 silver-powder alignment agent. It reduces the surface energy of the silver powder, prevents agglomeration, enhances the resin’s wettability toward the silver powder, promotes the oriented alignment of silver particles on the coating surface, and intensifies the metallic shimmer effect.

Possible causes:

(1) Differences in the charge characteristics of different components, relatively coarse particle size, and significant variations in particle size and bulk density among powder particles.

Large color variation

Possible causes:

(1) Ingredient errors/pigment variation

Proposed solution:

To address yellowing, the addition of HuanYu’s high-temperature and yellowing-resistant additive HYB500 effectively scavenges free radicals, inhibits oxidation reactions, enhances resin thermal stability, and slows down the yellowing process of the coating. It exhibits excellent resistance to temperatures of 230–250°C and also provides resistance to natural gas.

Add HuanYu HY306 antistatic agent (for powder application in grooves), HY309 high-efficiency charge-enhancing agent, and HY8369 all-in-one powder-applied masking agent to enhance the powder’s charge adsorption capability.

Enhancing charge retention time improves the electrostatic attraction between the powder and the workpiece, strengthens edge coverage, reduces the Faraday cage effect, increases powder application efficiency for complex geometries, and improves the thickness of the first powder coat.
