HY200 Floating Agent
Brief description
The floating agent is mainly composed of high-molecular-weight acrylate polymer and belongs to the surfactant category. It creates an uneven surface by adjusting surface tension to form a tension gradient, i.e., producing effects such as wrinkled, hammered, and artistic patterns. It is a widely used texture agent in the powder coating industry. Our company’s floating agent has chargeability and specific gravity close to those of powder coatings, improving the re-spray effect of recycled powder. HY200 is a floating agent designed for large-scale texture effects.
Typical properties: Industrial grade
Appearance: White powder
Softening point: about 90-130℃
Ingredients: acrylic polymer
Product Application
It is suitable for all types of powder coatings such as polyester, epoxy, epoxy-polyester hybrid, etc.
External addition (post-mixing): add the floating agent to the base powder after the base powder is prepared. Add 0.1-0.3% of the total weight of the base powder to be mixed as the floating agent, then mix and disperse evenly together. The specific dosage shall be determined through experiments.

Storage requirements
For storage, it shall be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place and sealed. Avoid direct sunlight, high temperature, high humidity, and keep it away from fire and heat sources to prevent caking. The storage temperature shall be below 30℃, and the shelf life is 12 months. If stored beyond the shelf life, it can be re-inspected; if the test results meet the requirements, it can still be used.
Warm tips
The texture will become finer as the addition amount of the floating agent increases, and will flatten out when reaching a certain limit; conversely, the texture will become coarser with a smaller addition amount. Compared with manual mixing, mechanical mixing when adding the floating agent requires a relatively smaller addition amount and results in a more uniform texture. Accelerators can be added to the formula to enhance reaction activity and strengthen the three-dimensional texture effect. The texture effect is also affected by curing conditions: a higher temperature makes it easier for the texture to form.
